How to Travel Between Dubai and Sharjah Using Public Transportation (2025 Guide)

The Dubai–Sharjah commute is one of the busiest in the UAE, with thousands of residents making the trip daily for work, education, or leisure. Thankfully, public transportation has evolved to offer affordable, efficient, and air-conditioned options to ease the journey between the two emirates.

Here’s a breakdown of the best ways to travel between Dubai and Sharjah using public transportation:

✅ 1. RTA & SRTA Intercity Buses

The most popular and consistent public transport option.

Main Routes:

  • E303: Union Metro Station → Al Jubail Bus Station (Sharjah)
  • E306: Al Ghubaiba Bus Station → Al Jubail
  • E307: Deira City Centre → Al Jubail
  • E307A: Abu Hail Metro Station → Al Taawun / Al Wahda

🕒 Frequency: Every 15–30 mins.
💰 Fare: AED 10–15 (Nol or Sayer card accepted).

✅ 2. Shared Minibuses (Private Vans)

A quicker, cheaper option to travel between Dubai and Sharjah, but it can get really crowded during the rush hours.

📍 Common Routes: Rolla ↔ Deira, Al Nahda ↔ Industrial Areas, King Faisal ↔ Al Rigga.
💰 Fare: AED 6–10 (cash only).
👍 Good for short city-to-city rides.

✅ 3. Dubai Metro + Intercity Bus Combo

Combine Dubai Metro Red Line with a connecting intercity bus.

Example:
🚇 Metro to Abu Hail → 🚌 E307A to Sharjah.
🕒 Convenient and less stressful if you’re near a Metro line.

✅ 4. Sea Transport – Dubai to Sharjah by Ferry

You can travel by ferry across the creek between Dubai and Sharjah. The ride takes more time, but it’s ideal for avoiding traffic and enjoying a scenic ride with beautiful views of the Creek and the Arabian Gulf.

📍 Route:

  • Dubai Creek (Al Ghubaiba Marine Station) → Sharjah Aquarium Marine Station

🛥️ Operated by RTA.
🕒 Frequency: Every 1.5 hours (check RTA Marine schedule).
💰 Fare: AED 15 (Silver Class), AED 25 (Gold Class).
⏱️ Duration: ~35–40 minutes.
🌊 Tip: Especially relaxing during evenings or weekends.

✅ You can use your Nol card!

✅ 5. SRTA Buses Inside Sharjah

Use SRTA’s local buses to reach:

  • Al Jubail Bus Station (main intercity hub).
  • Al Wahda Street.

From there, connect to Dubai buses easily.

⚠️ Useful Tips for Travelers

  • Avoid peak hours: 6:30–9:00 AM & 5:00–8:00 PM.
  • Nol card is a must for all Dubai-operated transport (bus, ferry, metro).
  • Check RTA & SRTA apps for live timings and updates.
  • Traffic can be unpredictable — ferries and metro-bus combos are often faster.

🛣 Future Plans

A dedicated Dubai-Sharjah Metro link is currently in the early planning stage. Until it’s built, public buses, ferries, and shared vans keep things moving.

Stay smart, stay cool, and choose the best option that fits your schedule.
